Matthew & Stephanie stopped by for the night on their way out to Kansas. We're always glad when family stops through, even if it's just for the night.
Matthew quickly got to teaching the kids new tricks. The favorite of which was them climbing up the fence in the backyard.
Andrew mastered it quite well and for the rest of the night asked if he could keep doing it.
He thinks it's the coolest thing. And really, I would have thought so too as a kid.
And Matthew played lots of baseball with all of the kids. Eliza really liked that.
And Lucy LOVED baby Sarah! She was always so excited to see her. It's like she knew her and they were friends before they came to earth. :) It was very sweet.
And Lucy also liked that Sarah had a pacifier and that she was nice enough to share with her.
They are going to be great friends for sure.
We're looking forward to seeing them again in a few weeks!

A Colorado Centennial Celebration
Today was the 4th grade Colorado performance. I volunteer on Thursdays so I helped get the kids ready for the dress rehearsal by helping pin costumes, put on make up and curling and braiding hair. These kids were so excited and looked amazing! They all have worked so hard on this!
So, I figured since I was at the school already I would just stay and watch the afternoon performance. My friend, Nikki, had Eliza and Lucy and was going to bring them up so she could watch it as well. The plan should have worked just fine, however, it just didn't. Nikki got the girls there just fine. Although, Lucy decided to have a huge blow out at her house, so she was naked since I didn't send an extra outfit with her. But that was fine. Eliza was happy and good for about the first 10 minutes. Then all of the sudden she brings me her shoes telling me she doesn't need them and I said, "Please put them on, we need to wear shoes at school." And then she started screaming! I grabbed her and took her out, no big deal. Usually she stops once you pick her up. Um, not this time. The screaming continued and much louder. It was awesome. So I've got my arms full of little girls, one screaming and shoes in my hand and then I have to try to grab the stroller so I could get us out of the school. It didn't go so well. After about a 3 minutes we finally made it outside. It was miserable. Since there was only about 30 minutes left of school, we just hung out in the car, but I didn't enjoy Eliza's tantrum. That was a first in public. Hopefully it will be the last.
So, for tonight's performance I found a babysitter for Eliza and Andrew. That worked out fine. Although, Andrew told me his teacher pulled him out for testing during the dress rehearsal, so that stinks. He never saw the whole thing. We did record it so he can watch the video. And poor Joseph made it after missing a bit. (His class had an issue on their field trip so only those with siblings in 4th grade got to go watch it.) Anyway, that being said, the afternoon performance was great I hear, I just didn't see it.
The evening performance was awesome, too!
Lexie got the part of a mountain man and spent a lot of time playing cards with Vaughn, Muriel, and Kadin. I was grateful Mrs. Wells had a costume for her. She wrote the play and also outfitted many of the kids.
Lexie had a solo to sing the second verse of "America, the Beautiful" and she did a great job!
She also had a rap with some of the other mountain men. Her's was about Kit Carson, yes sir! She did great with that, too.
There were so many fun songs! The kids did great and it was super enjoyable!
Here's Lexie with Cassidy.
And Cassidy & Haley.
And with Heather.
And lastly, with her teacher, Mrs. Freeman.
We love our school!

Random Morning
Today is Lexie's 4th Grade Performance. They are doing a Colorado Celebration. We borrowed this really awesome pioneer dress for her to wear. And then at the last minute they said that since she had a part of a mountain man they did just want her to wear the mountain man outfit. But it was sure cute to wear for a day.
Andrew got himself ready for school. And yes, I did let him go like this. His teacher got a kick out of it, too.
And as we've been cleaning out we found this bouncy seat that I never really used. Lucy sure likes it. Maybe she'll be happy to sit in there while I keep going through things to get rid of. Maybe...
If she won't, I know Eliza will.

I Like to Look for Rainbows
First bright big rainbow of the season. Always so fun to see! The kids were so excited we could hardly get them to bed, they just wanted to watch it for hours. Now if only we could get more rain around here, that would be wonderful!

Bobcat
Joseph earned his Bobcat tonight at his first pack meeting. Lexie had a Mother/Daughter night for Activity Days so I didn't go for the whole thing. After Lexie painted my nails I decided to go see where they were at the pack meeting and if it was close to awards time. I walked in just as Joseph was walking up to get his award. How's that for perfect timing?
Rick got some pics of their silly skit, too. Scouts has been a lot of fun for Joseph so far!

Isn't the Sunday nap supposed to happen in the afternoon? Not around this house. Nap time is basically anytime.

Andrew has really loved playing the the bristle blocks this week and had made about 10 different kinds of cameras. He's so funny. And he really likes taking a picture of me taking a picture of him. And I really like this kid. He's awesome.

Laugh Out Loud
Lexie had her Spring Choir Concert tonight and it was full of all types of silly songs and lots of giggles.
Heading up to the risers.
The before concert photo op. Such goofiness.
Lots of silly songs! Lexie's been singing them all around the house for weeks!
Lucy has sure grown since the last concert. It's amazing how much babies change in the first year.
Somehow these kids all grew mustaches in the 45 minutes we were there.
I love Lexie's face here.
Lexie & Mrs. King.
All of the kids with her. She was pretty bummed when Joseph turned her down for being her secretary next year. She couldn't believe we would actually move. So that's a bummer.
And one with our principal, Mrs. Spiedel. The kids love her & she loves our kids, we're grateful.
And Andrew grew a few mustaches, too.
Great concert, great school, great teachers, and of course, great kids!
Good night!
