And We Thought He Wasn't Listening...

The person giving the closing prayer in Sacrament Meeting at church today prayed that the Bishop & the Bishopric would be blessed. Immediately after the prayer, Joseph asked, "Mom, is dad a bishop?" I answered, "Oh no, he's not." Joseph then asked, "Then why did she say Bishop Rick?"
(At least he pays attention to your prayers, Jordan.)

Wheeeeee!

This afternoon we decided to see if the hill behind our house worked well for sledding. Turns out it does.

March Snowstorm

We had such a fun day today.
Around 6:15a.m. we saw that Lexie's school was cancelled so we decided it would be a Pajama Day. And it was. Miss Jen called around 7:30 to tell us that we would have a modified Joy School day though, & Joseph refused to get dressed (since we'd already decided it was Pajama Day), & wore his jammies to school.
While he was at school, Lexie & I had fun making cards for Joseph & she played a little dress-up.
It really started snowing around noon. Here's what it looked like around 1 p.m.
We finally made it out to shovel & play for a bit around 4.
Andrew spent most of the time in the garage where it was surprisingly warm. But he did venture out to play in the snow.
Lexie & Joseph sure enjoyed helping me & a neighbor down the street shovel. Andrew helped me pick them up from the neighbors house in the sled.
We discovered that our driveway makes a great little hill for the kids to slide down.

Of course we had to have some hot chocolate once we got inside.
I must say again, Mom, thanks for getting me these great boots 12 years ago. I still love them!
Then it was bedtime. The kids have been having sleepovers all week long & love it. I love hearing them giggle & talk until they finally fall asleep.
Now all we have to do is wait for Rick to get home. He's been in Orlando all week for business. Too bad he's missed all the fun...
(Although maybe not since it's supposed to keep on snowing until tomorrow morning.)

"All I Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten!"

Tonight was Lexie's first Kindergarten Program. It was really cute.
They sang some cute songs about the water cycle, vowels, grammar rules, shapes, telling time, & more. They also recited some lines about things they have learned in Kindergarten. She worked hard on memorizing her lines & the songs. Her favorite song to sing was "The World is a Rainbow."

This is Lexie with her great teacher. We're so glad that Lexie loves school so much & loves to learn!

Joseph's First Trip to the ER

This cute boy:

plus this big ball:

plus this sharp edge:
equals these three staples:
(you can click on this to see them better if you want)
Joseph was trying to stand on the ball when his head suddenly met the edge of the end table. One ER trip later he emerged with
4 stickers, 3 staples, 2 cars, & 1 squirt bottle.

First Soccer Practice

Today Lexie started soccer with Coach Alicia. She was a little bit nervous about it (like when she started Kindergarten & Joy School nervous she said), but she learned that it was a lot of fun. She has lots of friends on her team so that makes it even more fun. They started the practice off with a little run to warm up (she said it was like P.E. class). They learned some rules & how to kick, then choo-choo trained around the field while dribbling the ball. Next was time for a game of red light-green light to practice stopping the ball. They had a fun game of shark & minnow to practice keeping/taking the ball away from each other. There was even time for a few 3-on-3 games. Rick took Andrew, Joseph & a friend over to the park during the practice & I really enjoyed talking with all the other moms. It was funny-I was buying her soccer ball & the cashier informed me that I was officially a Soccer Mom. I guess she's right & I love it.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Thanks for the fun shirts, Grandma.

Weekend With Some Family

This weekend we experienced the effects of the perfect storm. Southwest had cheap tickets into Denver & Disney On Ice was in town. Rick's parents, his sister Tami , her husband Paul & 2 of her kids, Addie & Jace came, along with another sister-in-law & her son, Chrissy & Lakai. It was a quick visit but we packed a lot in. We went out to eat a couple of times, played at the park, played some games, took at quick trip to the ER for Andrew, & still made it to the show. The kids had a blast playing with some of their cousins. Thanks for coming!

In Case You Get Lost

In preparation for company this weekend, Lexie has taken upon herself the task of making sure our vistors don't get lost in our house. These fun little signs started appearing in various places around the house.

"The offis is this way -->"

"The Bathroom is This wa -->"

"Lexie's Room is that wa <--"

"Josephs room is that way -->"

What a thoughtful little girl. We hope her fun ideas never cease.

Surprise Breakfast

We woke up this morning to the fresh aroma of cinnamon & Lexie coming into our room inviting us to come downstairs for a surprise.

Lexie had made cinnamon toast for everyone. It was so exciting. We each had a piece of toast on the island where we usually sit. There were even little pieces torn up for Andrew. It was a great way to start our Sunday.

The Royal Gorge

There was no school today, so we headed down to the Royal Gorge. It is the highest suspension bridge in the world. It also has the steepest incline railway in the world.

This is the funny sign in the middle of the bridge.

We had a lot of fun on the aerial tram, walking around the wildlife park, watching the historical movie (the canyon is all granite), & the kids loved going down into the gorge so much-we did it twice. Despite the 70+ degree weather, the petting zoo & carousel weren't open yet. That was a bummer. We enjoyed the scenery, all the cool rocks & animals, the weather, & the lack of crowds.

Joseph's First Talk

This morning I got a call that the boy who was supposed to give the talk in Primary wasn't going to be there. Since Joseph was supposed to give the closing prayer we figured he could give the talk & easily find someone else to give the prayer. Since I was still working on Sharing Time preps, Rick & Joseph wrote his talk. He did a really good job. He read the talk himself & even looked up at me to smile-many times. I wish I could have recorded it in Primary, so when we got home we got out the camera so G'parents could see how well he did.

Also, Andrew successfully completed his second week in Nursery. Last week he did fine & bonded with one of his teachers. This week, when Rick tried to drop him off he cried until this teacher came in, then Andrew ran up to him to be held. We're grateful that our kids have such good teachers.
