Ouch!

Lexie has this great mirror in her room & Andrew has slowly been pulling the decorative sides off of it. This afternoon he figured out how to pull enough padding off to find a sharp edge. He calmly came down to the living room & said, "I bleeding. I bleeding." We turned around & sure enough, he was bleeding. There was so much blood on his hands, arms, face, shirt, & legs (yes, he had time to paint his legs) that I couldn't figure out from where it was coming. He had sliced the tip of his finger open. (3 in all, but only the 1 really deeply.) It was not pretty at all.
As well as having time to paint his body, he left a lovely trail of blood from the mirror in Lexie's room down to the living room. (It was helpful that it was all over the mirror because at first we thought he had found the scissors.)

We finally got him all bandaged up & he seemed pretty content. It wasn't until after we gave him some ibuprofen that he finally acknowledged that he was hurt or in any type of pain.

And of course, about 5 minutes later, he was out for the night.

It's no fun when kiddos get hurt. Gratefully, he didn't freak out at all & let us get him all patched up.

Rick's Birthday!

Rick had a birthday! (Shout Hooray!) It was kind of a crazy day in that we didn't get to have a fun party with him because I had church activities that night, so we'll do something more fun as a family tomorrow. But, the kids did manage to help get some things that they thought he would really enjoy.
They made him some great signs & cards. You can't see it well here, but Joseph made him an awesome card with pickle trees. (The kids have a nice long-standing joke with Rick about pickles.)
Lexie really wanted to get Rick some new shirts for work.
Joseph, of course, had to pick out some pickles for him. We decided to put funny glasses on them. What a hoot!
And Andrew was just really happy to hop all over pop.
The kids got to pick out what kind of cake we made him & of course...we went with a pickle cake. Gratefully, we were all out of chocolate pickle juice, so we just had milk to drink with it.
Happy Birthday, Rick. We sure love you!

School's Out!

Today was the last day of school for the year!

Lexie was sad to leave first grade, but very excited for lots of "fun time" this summer.
Yesterday we got to go to her school for a 1st grade picnic.
The boys especially enjoyed getting to go & play on all of the toys with lots of Lexie's friends. It's hard to believe that the school year is over! Now on to a fun summer!

It's a Baby!

We're pleased to announce that we are expecting a little girl! We're due Oct. 27th.

Lunch With Dad

Today we got to go to a picnic at Rick's work. We didn't take any pictures, but the boys had a great time jumping in the bouncy dragon, getting their face painted, & playing on all of the toys.

Field Day

This morning Lexie had Field Day at school. The boys & I went up to watch & cheer her class on. Field Day is always fun because the kids just crack you up! There were lots of fun events for the kids to participate in.
Here is Lexie and one of her best friends, Mitali.

They got to do the wheelbarrow race together. They started out strong, but had a few problems.

She got to do the 3-legged race with Jadon & did fairly well.

Lexie had a great time doing the waterballoon toss with Ashlee.

Joseph loved being able to particpate in the 40 yard dash!

And the last event for each class, was the potato sack race. Lexie amazed me by winning this! It was awesome!

And then there was the tug or war between the classes. There are 7 first grade classes & Lexie's is the smallest with 14. They got to challenge the other small class of 17 & Lexie's class won!
It was a whole lot of fun & I'm glad that she had a good time.

Our Joy School Grad

We just can't believe how grown up this little guy is. It's just amazing.

Here's Joseph & some of his friends excitedly waiting for the graduation to begin...

Here is one of the songs they sang-"Oh Boy, I've Got Joy!" I love how animated all of the kids are.

Here is the "Appleseed" song. Sorry it's pretty shaky. I had a sweet little boy who liked climbing up & down my lap during it.

Joseph's cute class. Joseph is sure going to miss all of his little buddies.

Oh how we love Miss Jen. Thanks so much for another awesome year!

A Much Needed Time Out

Andrew was being a real crusty bug this morning & got sent to time out. About 2 minutes later we go to get him out & find him like this.
He really needed that time out.
