Tooth Number 3

Today we heard the kids happily playing & laughing together. Then we heard, "Oh no...um, uh, oh no!" Then Lexie ran in & said, "I was jumping & my knee hit my mouth & my tooth fell out!" I guess that is one way of doing it.

Awards Assembly

Lexie's teacher called the other night to tell us Lexie was getting the "Good Citizen" award & to invite us to the Award's Assembly.

We are glad Lexie is such a sweet girl & such a good helper in her class. We hope that never changes.

Really, Andrew?

How can someone so small be so destructive?

Play Hard?

Remember at the beginning of the school year how we had to buy Lexie new shoes? Well, here we are 6 months later & we had to buy her new shoes...again. (Only this time it wasn't because she out grew them!)
Maybe now she won't come home with wet feet or a billion rocks in her shoes, maybe...

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love how excited our kids get about every holiday! It makes me smile.
Lexie's Valentine Box she made at school.
We made yummy heart pancakes for breakfast-always a winner!

The purple heart cake we made.

Imitation is...

Rick had a meeting tonight for which he dressed in a suit & tie. Once Andrew saw him, he started yelling, "Tie! Tie! Tie!" & quickly grabbed his Sunday clothes, insisting I put them on him.
This was 15 minutes before bedtime & after a long day, he just plopped down & fell asleep. He wants to be just like his Dad.

Past His Bedtime...

The kids got to stay up late playing with some fun friends. I guess Joseph wore himself out playing so hard because he didn't get up after bedtime prayers.

Slow Down Already!

Today was a sad reminder of how quickly the kids grow up.
We registered Joseph for Kindergarten! He is so excited & ready. (I'm not so sure I'm ready though.) I keep telling him to stop growing up so quickly & he says, "I can't. I just keep growing more & more every day."

And Lexie celebrated the 100th day of school. She made a fun poster with 100 hearts on it that she had cut out & did lots of fun "one hundred" activities during a party at school.

The Boys' Favorite Toys

Lately I've been very grateful for Hot Wheels. Joseph & Andrew can spend hours at a time playing with their cars without getting bored (& mostly without fighting).

The only downside, the mess they leave behind. One of these days they will learn to put toys away when they are done playing with them. One day... I hope.

Learning Letters

Andrew surprised us last night (so I recorded him today) by picking up one of Joseph's books & sounding out the letters. It's fun to watch him learn new things & try to be like his big brother & sister.

"P"-cock

Andrew has been having some troubles with speech production & he is working with a speech therapist. For the past month we've been working on the "p" sound with different vowels & consonants.

Karen, a friend from Kansas, wrote on her blog about her experiences in Haiti & working at a school in Jacmel. (They were there during the earthquake, you should read about their amazing experiences there!) She wrote about how some of the children were having a hard time with the "p" sound & so the teacher crumpled up a piece of paper, put it on the table & made a game out of it. The kids would put their mouth by the paper & try to make a strong "p" sound which would blow the paper across the table. I was so excited to go & try it with Andrew. It worked really well!

Another fun thing I found at the blog No time for Flashcards, was to make a peacock out of the letter P. So, on Tuesday, we made Peacock Ps & each time he colored or placed a feather on the paper we made different sounds with the letter P.

We had a lot of fun doing this project & will certainly be trying lots more of them! I love all of the awesome ideas out there on blogs. They certainly help me out!

Happy Kansas Day!

Yesterday was Kansas Day. I know, exciting. But, I really like Kansas. So, in honor of this momentous day, today I made Sunflower cookies. The kids really liked them. I would have made them yesterday but I was out of sunflower kernels.
They were very yummy!

Megan found this fun Kansas quiz: http://www.quia.com/rr/95040.html

And it certainly was nice that KU beat K-State today! And BYU beat Utah. It was a great day for college basketball.
