These are pictures from Lexie working on her Native American project for school. I had great hopes of her finishing this before Christmas break was over, however, that didn't happen. So we ended up finishing it the weekend it's due. We're awesome like that.
She did a lot of hand sewing for this project and did a great job with it, too.
Sewing the handle.
Beading the handles.
Sewing the handle to the bag.
Finished product with a few of the things she put in it.
Her making her poster about medicine bags.
And then she got to finish gluing on her papers and pictures. She's done! Now she just gets to present it to her class! I think she (and I know we) was glad to have it done.

They Must Be Related
Yep, Andrew is definitely related to Joseph, they both end up with huge smiles of food all around their mouths. Not sure how it happens, but it does. We're grateful for napkins around this house. And their extra smiles-while they last.

Crazy Fun Saturdays
We started our fun day with some more fun in the snow. The kids built their forts for snowball fights and Eliza got all bundled up again to play. (She lasted about 10 minutes out there.)
Lucy was happy to have her sister come back in to play with her, though.
The forts and fights.
Poor Lexie trying to get Rick and he just stands there ready to catch her snowball to attack her back.
We got our play time in early. Then we had lots of work to do. Lexie had her 4th grade project to finish for class Monday. So she spent much of her day working on that.
Joseph started getting antsy just playing with Andrew and they started annoying each other. So, I suggested they work together on a scavenger hunt for us to do this evening once Lexie was done with her project. So, that kept the boys busy and happily working together instead of whining.
They made some great clues for all around the house.
I love how they blocked off the kitchen from us.
And we found the treasure!
Andrew has also been a goof lately. He really enjoys crawling down the stairs. Yeah, often we'll call for him to come down and wonder what's taking him so long...he's coming, just crawling though.
Oh, how he cracks us up!

Sucking Her Thumb
Lucy may be our first thumb sucker. I really hope it doesn't stick, but it is still cute to watch her suck on her cute little thumb. She's just a sweetheart.
Eliza isn't feeling so well today, can you tell?
But, Lucy is feeling great. We hope it stays. Everyone has had some sort of sickness these last few days, gratefully Lucy has been spared thus far and we hope she continues to be.
And it's snowing this morning. The older kids hope there's plenty to play in once they get home from school. Mal sehen.
Lucy is also getting really good at grabbing things. She loves the cat. It's funny to see the kids have preferences at such a young age, but some have liked the red dog over the yellow cat. I should really go look it up and see what the ratios are. But she's great at pulling it and playing with it now. Yea, Lucy!

There's Enough Snow!
We got a few inches of snow, not tons, but enough for the kids to have some fun after school playing and having little snowball fights.
Lexie loves throwing the snow up and having it land on her like she's in a blizzard.
Andrew likes his new scarf I made him for Christmas and is ready to head out to play.
Eliza is all ready to go out, but was a bit nervous about getting too cold. Eventually she went out, for a few minutes. I think she enjoyed getting all bundled up more than being outside. That's just fine.
I think she was just a little nervous about joining this madness.
She's cute all bundled up.
And Lucy liked being nice and warm inside while the other kiddos played outside. I don't blame her. I liked that, too.

Trusty Belt
I still love how Andrew wears this belt of his almost every single day-no matter if the clothes he has on warrant wearing a belt or not.
He's always got his trusty belt with him.
However, he has stopped calling it his seat belt, it is now just his belt.

It Works
The missing pieces to Joseph's set came in the mail today and he wanted to make his helicopter today! So, he did. It turned out to be pretty cool. He was really excited about it and liked showing it to his siblings.

Hamming It Up for Church
Lucy got a new towel for Christmas-she's growing so quickly! The kids love asking her after her shower, "WHOOO's so OWLdorable in her new tOWeL?" We think she is.
Eliza got a cute (well, mom thinks so) dress, also. Gotta love Target clearance. It was $5.06. Who could pass on that adorableness at that price?
One funny thing about the age Eliza is, is how when you ask her to smile is how squinty she makes her eyes. And she can't stop from doing it. But I think it just adds to her cuteness.
Yep, she's ready for her new class at Nursery.

Sweet Race
It is a race every morning to see who gets to snuggle Lucy. It makes me laugh every time, but it's also so sweet to see how much these kids love each other and love to take care of each other. Lucy is the major lucky recipient right now, and I don't think she minds one bit.

Back Home
It's always so nice to travel and see family. But it's also so nice to be home. I was reminded yesterday how grateful I am that I was not a pioneer crossing Wyoming in the snow. I was pretty chilled running into a gas station in -11 degree weather, I don't think I would have made it across the plains. Those were some pretty remarkable people. But, we made it home, grateful to have a heated car in which to travel. The kids went to sleep easily last night & now we're into the hustle and bustle of being home. Amid all of the unpacking, shopping, and cleaning that needs to be done after a trip, we finally found some time for the kids to play with some of their presents. (Of course they would say it wasn't enough time-yet-but hopefully they'll be a little more satisfied by the time school starts-okay probably not then, either.)
Lexie spent much of her free time today crocheting. She was practicing the single stitch just to get her hands used to it and she got quite good. Now we need to work on the next stitches.
Joseph played with his laser pegs. Unfortunately some of the pieces were missing from the box so we got those ordered, but that didn't stop him from enjoying the fun of creating.
Of course all of the kids loved seeing the toy glow in the dark. Pretty snazzy.
And the list of jobs to be done in the next few days continues to grow, but we're glad we sometimes still remember to just play and have fun. We've got good kids who help us remember it, and that is a good thing.

Heard Around Our House
11/16/12 A:
"Where is the table to the Thanksgiving toy?" E: "Over here by
bookshelf." A: "You're lyin', E. It's not here." E: "I not a lion, I
Liza! I not a lion, A!"
10/30/12 The kids just asked I was going as for Halloween M: "The Mama." A:
"You're going as Obama? So cool! Are people going to vote for you?"
Ummm...doubtful. I guess the fact that we voted yesterday has got him in a
great political mindset, however the sign in our yard says we support
the other guy. :)10/10/12 As told by T. As he was taking A & P to school, P was saying I don't like school & crying. A said, "I don't like going to school either, but I don't pitch a fit about it." He also talked about how "hate" is a bad word. I love my kids!
9/23/12 While learning about talents in Primary. D: "Who has a talent?" A: "Everyone. Well, except people in Germany. They don't even know what that word means."
9/21/12 A: "I want to be like Batman because he is a hero." M: "Oh, how do you know he's a hero? What makes him one?" A: "Because he has a cape." M: "Oh." A: "And don't forget he also has a mask." Then we talked about what makes a real hero.
9/16/12 A: "D, E hit my nose!" D: "Oh no. And now you have two little holes in your nose." A: "No, those were already there. They're fore my fingers to go in and pick my nose."
9/8/12 A: "M, someday can we get wings on our car?" Pause. "Then we won't have to go on an airplane, we'd just go in our car."
8/11/12 A: "Right now my brain is really telling me that I want a pet. Seriously, Mom." (At the pet store.)
8/12/12 While D is giving everyone buzerbits. J: "It sounds like you are going stinky in your pants." L: "But, I'm not wearing any pants."
7/29/12 This morning A was doing a puzzle of the United States which also had the capitals on it. D: "What state do we live in?"A: pointed to "Colorado." D: "What is the capital of Colorado?" A: "C."
5/28/12 A:(His names for the color aquamarine.) "I want the aquamagreen one." (We give him a funny look) "I mean aquathegreen."
5/26/12 A: "Can we have a popstickle?" M: "It's called a popscicle." A: "Then why does it have a stick in the bottom of it?"
5/23/12 K: "A, it's time to go home so your dad can feed you some dinner." A: "I'm not a baby. I can feed myself."
5/20/12 M: "Alright kids, once you eat your dinner all gone, then you can have 2 cookies!" A: "Well, I'll have yogurt for dinner."
5/18/12 A: "I wish I could live at the yogurt shop. It's really fun & I like all of the different kinds of yogurt."
4/29/12 M: "A, please be quiet so you & everyone around you can think about Jesus." A: "Because if I'm loud during the sacrament then they will only think about Satan?"
4/27/12 A: "Dad, these cranberry muffins taste like crayons." D: "What color crayon does it taste like?" A: "Red."
4/22/12 (While working on memorizing the 4th Article of Faith trying to explain to A what "immersion" means) M: "When we are baptized do we just have water sprinkled on us like when we're in a shower?" A: "No, that is how they do it in the Church of the Abomination."
1/8/11 A:
1/6/11 A: "M, Goofy didn't die, but he ate a bumblebee sandwich." M:
"Actually he ate a bologna sandwich." A: "What's a bologna sandwich?"
12/25/11 L: "Raise your hand if you like the sound of ripping paper!" (opening presents on Christmas)
11/18/11 M: "Wow, J, you're having more?" J: "Yep, it's my 3rd load!"
11/5/11 A: "D, would you rather step on sharks or Legos?" D: "Andrew feet!" A: "No! That's not an auction!"
11/5/11 D: "J, would you rather step on sharks or Legos if you were
barefoot?" J: "Legos." L: "Sharks, because these sharks don't bite, and
Legos hurt."
10/6/11 A: "D, did you notice something? My birthday is always in the same month."
9/26/11 A: "M, when I grow up, I want to be a guitar!"
8/19/11 A: "I like using water flavored toothpaste."
8/10/11 A: "M, remember all of those years ago when you said 'such and
such' could happen? We still need to do that." He says it for all sorts
of things with 'all those years, weeks, months ago.' He has quite the
memory.
7/29/11 A: "Ow! My tongue bit my tooth, again!"
6/26/11 P (friend): "Does your baby have any teeth?" M: "No, not yet."
A: "She only has red teeth." P: "Oh, okay." And they go off happily with
that answer.6/26/11 J: "Come on, L, let's go play in the basement. We could play singing class or something." L: "I really just want to play 'Rick & Cheryl'."
6/24/11 A: "The sprinklers are growing up!"
6/23/11 A:"I'm so excited for the dentist! I will bring my calcudalator so they can count my teeth!"
6/22/11 M: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" A: "Respectable."
6/16/11 A: "Daddy is so pickle handsome!"
6/13/11 When A says the 3rd Article of faith he ways "ordiment-ceses of the gospel".
6/13/11 L: (during FHE) "Sometimes people fight with their family." M: "Do you think that it's appropriate to fight?" L: "No, especially not with our family. We shouldn't ever fight." J: "Sometimes it's good to fight. We should fight with the armor of the Lord. And fight our daily battles. Then we win a great reward." (Thank you "Scripture Power.")
6/12/11 J: "M, when you die, how do you want it to be?" M: "Um, peaceful. So, ah, how do you want it to be when you die?" J: "When I die I want there to be a chariot of fire." He had just learned about the story of Elijah a few weeks before.
5/28/11 A: "I wish that this chicken had yogurt & crackers on it!"
5/25/11 A: "M, what month is it?" M: "May." A: "Does that mean we can watch 'Team Umizomi'?" M: "Yes." A: "YEA!!" (with the biggest smile)
5/22/11 (After M gave him kiss on cheek which he's wiping away) A: "I don't love kisses!" M: "I'm sorry, what do you love?" A: "Nothing." M: "Okay, since when don't you love kisses?" A: "Since Friday."
5/21/11 L: "Do you know another reason why I love E? She loves to discover things. I think when she grows up she'll want to be a scientist."
5/18/11 A: "Look, I got a star sticker in class today! Now I'm a RockStar!"
5/10/11 A: (as sirens are going off) "M, it's a fire drill, I mean a tornado drill!" M: "What do you do if there is a tornado at school?" A: "Say prayers!!"
5/9/11 M: "Look, Lexie got a letter from her pen pal!" A: "What letter did she get? Oh, is it an A?"
4/24/11 (At dinner we talked about many things the kids want to be when they grow up; a doctor, scientist, art teacher, muscian...) D: "J, what do you want to be when you grow up?" J: "Maybe I'll be a Bishop."
3/15/11 J: "Mom, E talks in an A-A-B pattern."
2/13/11 J: "What should we have for dinner? It should probably be something with sprinkles."
1/22/11 J: "L, I found our bag of mysterious things!"
12/16/10 S: "J, are you going to write me when I'm on my mission?" J: "No." S: "Why not?" J: "I don't think we know each other well enough."
8/1/10-present & beyond A:"I'm not cute! I'm handsome!"
7/20/10 L: "I wish I could get this out of my head. I know, gargling helps!"
6/27/10 (at church) J: "Wake me up when it's time to have fun."
6/27/10 J: "Are there vegetable flies?" (after seeing a fruit fly)
4/15/10 J: "For my chore, I'm going to jump up and down on a pobo stick to make holes for the garden."
4/15/10 L: "Sweeping! It's my whole year for that chore!"
4/13/10 D: "What are you going to do when you lose your tooth?" L: "Put
it under my pillow, silly!" D: "Why would you do that?" L: "So the tooth
fairy will come!" M: "How do you know about the tooth fairy?" L: "I
don't know." M: "How did you know that the tooth fairy comes?" L: "Only
when there is a tooth under your pillow."
4/8/10 L: "M, when do we get to go to the dentist again?" M: "In June."
L: "Oh, that's too long. I want to go on Wednesday. This Wednesday."
1/30/10 L: "Indeed ye shall believe what I just said!" J: "Ummm, I think I shall not believe."
1/30/10 J: "M, I'll say a food & you tell me how to spell it. I'm going to write down foods you can order for breakfast. Alright, how do you spell 'Arby's'?"
1/12/10 J: "When I grow up I want to be a missionary!"
12/18/09 L: "Oh, J has been wanting this for hours!" (After seeing a present that she wanted to give J for Christmas.)
10/24/09 L: "Thanks for helping to mow the lawn guys." (to the grazing buffalo)
9/13/09 J: "D, can you help me get a paperclip on all of these papers? I have a big meeting."
9/13/09 J: "Why do they always say the Smiths at Primary?" (dismissed)
9/3/09 J: (After I said I would just run his friend up to her house & she saying that was alright) "But Vivi, don't you want to spend more time with me?"
9/1/08 J: "Can I have some Jelly Tummies?" (Jelly Bellys)
8/18/09 M: " What kind of ice cream do you want?" J: "Ummm, Bumpy Road."
7/28/09 J: "M, I'd rather not take my eyes out to paint them, I'd rather go sppurrt on them. If I did take them out, I'd take both out at the same time so I wouldn't be able to see."
7/28/09 J:"I felt Jesus, but not the Holy Ghost."
7/26/09 J: "What would we do if there was a tornado in our house & the roof & walls were all gone?" D: "We would probably go for a ride way up high." J: "And then I would see Miss Jen's house!"
7/24/09 J:"I am going to think of the hardest math problem in the whole world for Mom & Dad. L, you can help give me ideas."
7/6/09 J:(After someone's car alarm went off for a long while) "Boy, that sure did give me a headache!"
7/4/09 J:"If I was a firework, I would be a little one & stay close to the ground. But really loud to wake everyone up while they are sleeping!"
6/14/09 J: "L, you can have a zip of my drink. Then I can have a zip of yours!"
6/12/09 J: "Everyone is not perfect. But they got what they got."
6/12/09 Kiffon:" J, are you walking to pick up L from school?" J: "No, I'm running to get her."
6/1/09 J: "Tornadoes don't like to be in night very much because the air conditioners aren't quite right."
5/21/09 L: "Computers were different when Daddy was a little boy. He didn't have things like Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!"
5/17/09 L: "I love you to infinion."
5/17/09 J: "My favorite number is infinion!"
5/15/09 J: "My new toothbrush makes me run faster! Want to see?"
5/10/09 L: "Mom, this leg is longer than the other." M: "Really?" L: "I guess this one (pointing to the 'longer' one) sleeps more."
5/9/09 J: "Campers don't go potty in the toilet. They go on trees. Or in holes in the ground that we don't want to fall in."
5/8/09 M: "L, do you want to sleep in my bed tonight?" L: "Yes, it's no use trying to sleep without Joseph."
4/18/09 J: "Dad, are bed bugs real?" D: "Yep." J: "But I've never even seen them." D: "That's because we don't have any in our house." L: "Is that because we sleep tight?"
4/14/09 L: "Mom, that thing holding the wires up looks like the France Tower!" (the power line supports-the Eiffel Tower)
4/13/09 J: "For my chore, I'm going to jump up and down on a pobo stick to make holes for the garden."
4/13/09 L: "Sweeping! It's my whole year for that chore!"

4/3/09 J: "More smashed potatoes, please!"
3/27/09 L (while sledding): "Here, I'll give you a kush." (instead of a push)
3/24/09 L: "Our team name can be the green stems. Or, I know, the green team."
3/7/09 L: "I had quite a good day at church today."
3/6/09 L: "Oohhh, I love rootbeer floats; except the rootbeer."
2/27/09 J: "Mom, what is a dolphin's defense mechanism?" M: "I don't know, what do you think? J: "Jumping."
2/17/09 J: "Can I extracise with you?"
2/11/09 M: "J, where did you learn the word 'particular'?" J: "Miss Jen. She told me in Sunbeams, that particular Heavenly Father & Jesus love me!"
2/11/09 J: "He (Zack) has Star Wars the Clovers!" (Clone Wars)
2/11/09 J: "Also what A. particular loves to do is take his walker away from me."
2/11/09 J: "I want a lunchbowl. Actually, what is a lunchbowl?" (Lunchable)
2/7/09 L: "Ow, I ran into the doorknock!"
2/6/09 J: "Where can I hang my purse? Oh, I know-right on the office doorknock."
2/6/09 J: "Let's get my party started!"
1/21/09 J: "Dad, it's okay if I fall on my head, I won't get hurt. It's a good thing I'm wearing my helmet."
1/4/09 J: "I got a coupon in Primary cause I'd be so super good there."
12/31/08 J: "We could give people things they need. Like googly eyes for them to have."
12/31/08 L: "Who would babysit us?" J: "St. Nick! Or Santa."
12/31/08 M: "Those lights are my favorite part of Christmas time." J: "No, the very best part of Christmas time is the presents we give away!"
12/31/08 M: "J, what do you know about the scriptures?" J: "Everything."
12/28/08 J: (running excitedly to us) "Mom & Dad, so good news!" (He had learned how to open his lightsaber by himself.)
12/24/08 J: "Motoruck & truck--they rhyme!"
12/20/08 J: "We have to be nice to Joey because he is our cousin & our friend. But mostly our friend."
12/19/08 L: "Why don't we just say thanks for the dollars & bucks?"
12/19/08 L: "Daddy, when will you come home from work in the morning?"
12/14/08 J: "I can do service for L & A by finish eating their candy canes if they are full of them."
12/14/08 J: "I don't think I like counterlope very much anymore."
12/6/08 J: "We have a circle bone & a line bone in our knee." D: "How do you know that?" J: "I know... everything!"
12/4/08 J: "Is there pumpkin soup in this?" M: "That's a silly question." J: (shouting) "No it is not! Is there?"
12/4/08 L: "The best part of playing out in the snow is making snow angels & eating snow of course!"
11/30/08 L: "Look at me! I'm balancing the sippy cup on my head with no hands!" (Even cooler, it was in a moving car.)
11/26/08 J: "That is the silent magic 'O'." (after L taught him about the silent magic 'E' in words like "lake".)
11/24/08 L: "Wow! There are so many stars in this land!" (5:30 am in the middle of WY)
11/24/08 J: (at 3:30am getting ready to leave for ID) "Is it time to put up the Christmas tree?"
11/17/08 J: "M, I love you so much! That gives me a warm fuzzy when I say that!"
11/11/08 L: "I want to fast for 3 days." M: "Why?" L: "To be like Jesus."
11/7/08 J: "Yes way, Jose!"
11/1/08 L: "J, don't interrupt Mom unless the house is on fire or someone is bleeding to death!"
10/6/08 M: "What do you think we will talk about tonight for FHE?" (after singing "When we're helping" 4 times & saying the song was a hint) L: "Joseph Smith?"
10/6/08 L: "I made big 8s & lowercase 8s. Now I'll make capital 6s & lowercase 6s."
9/29/08 D:" L, do you know a song about the temple?" L: "Yes, I sang it in the bathroom one day a long time ago!"
9/28/08 L: "Heavenly Father answers our prayers with Yes, No, or in a few minutes."
9/25/08 L: "What a good dog. She's listening to her humans."
9/25/08 J: "What a cute gopher dog!" (it was a chihuahua)
9/15/08 L: "Please bless that there will be lots of Whammies in the Whammy show."
9/14/08 D: "What is the opposite of hungry?" L: "Not."
9/13/08 L: (to J) "What are you doing on earth?" (instead of what on earth are you doing?)
