April Showers

A spring storm left a couple of inches of snow on Thursday. Joseph was so excited to play in the snow. Around 7:30 am he got himself all dressed and ready to go out, but we didn't actually make it outside until 11:30. We had a good time making snow angels and throwing snow. It was such a wet snow that by the time I finished shoveling the driveway, I felt like I had done it 3 times.

I love a good bargain!

Gratefully Becca told me of the great sale going on at King Soopers. I didn't get their ad this week so I wasn't planning on going. Boy, would I have missed out. I went through the line 3 times. I bought 108 items for $83. That is 76.8 cents per item. Not bad considering that includes 6 gallons of milk, produce, bread, & day old cupcakes (because the kids were amazing). If you take all of that out. I got 90 items for $50.70. That averages out to 56 cents per item. By "item" I mean: 48 oz crisco canola oil, betty crocker muffin mix, french's mustard, 32 oz gatorade, bc scalloped potatoes, goldfish crackers, hormel chili, clorox wipes, granola bars, breyers ice cream, eggo waffles, even spam, & much, much more. Not too shabby. Now, if only I could find a place to put all of this stuff!!

Yeah, I lead a pretty exciting life - I blog about grocery shopping.

I'm a Jayhawk!!

YEA! The Kansas Jayhawks are the NCAA Champs!! What an amazing game! I was a little more than nervous at times, but so thrilled with the outcome! I am so excited! Both teams played well- kinda. Both teams wanted to win, Kansas definitely wanted to win more!! Chalmers really stepped it up-alright the whole team did, but WOW, Chalmers was amazing! Kinda fun, Mom & Dad...20 years ago your first son was on his mission and Kansas won...now your last son is on his mission...& Kansas WON!! I sure wish I was home to celebrate with everyone!
The kids were very cute during the first half, telling us each time they saw a Jayhawk or a good blue player & repeatedly said Kansas is going to win. Such faith! Oh, and Lexie had a new phrase while laying there watching the game, "This is the life!" It was so awesome to watch the team cut down the nets!! I love Kansas Basketball! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!! I am so happy!

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Yea KU!! What an awesome game! This was so much fun to watch! It was a little nerve racking there in the middle, gratefully Kansas stayed strong. It was totally worth waiting to watch until Rick got home from Priesthood Session! Even Andrew was so into it that he stayed awake for the entire game!
Yea Kansas! We can't wait until Monday! Enjoy the game!

Joseph is 3-almost!

Tonight we got an early start on celebrating Joseph's birthday. Becca, Karl, & fam came over, along with Stephanie & Travis (Rick's sister & bro-in-law). Joseph opened a few presents & we had cake & ice cream.
Every time we asked Joseph what kind of cake he wanted he answered, "One with sharks & dolphins & balls & trucks & trains & tractors & dragons & dinosaurs & robots." After discussing and designing a three layer cake we decided that was too much work and showed him pictures of cakes in magazines to convince him of what he really wanted.

Easter 2008

When we lived in Maryland we would go up to Connecticut for Thanksgiving to visit my sister, Heather. She would come down and visit me at Easter. Shortly after we moved here, they moved to Utah, making it easier to continue the tradition.
On Saturday the kids woke up to find a very "Suessical Surprise." (The Easter Bunny comes either early/late to our house so Sunday we can focus on the Resurrection of the Savior.)

That afternoon, we went to the Barnum's ward & house for 2 Easter Egg Hunts. Although there were eggs everywhere, Joseph would only stop to pick up the blue ones. Can you guess what his favorite color is?
Coloring eggs is always a fun activity. They did a great job-none of the kids spilled any of the dye (can't say the same about the adults).

We sure enjoyed having so many cousins here. The kids love playing with their cousins. Thanks for coming. Come back again next year!

Highlights of the Week

Andrew added carrots to his diet. As you can see, he is a big fan.

We had a little incident with Joseph involving blue crayon and the wall. When questioned on the topic, Joseph stood in front of his masterpiece and said, "Dad, you're not supposed to look here." In the following days, he did it 2 more times, and upon getting caught said, "You're not supposed to hear me doing this-don't see me" and "You shouldn't see that, Mom." So, tonight, sadly he got to throw away all of his crayons and spent some time scrubbing the walls. Lexie was sweet enough to help him.

Rick fulfilled one of his lifelong goals: Beating the computer at Hearts with 0 pts (& it only took 4 rounds). Yeah, he has pretty lofty goals!
Andrew had his 6 month appointment and is now 18 lbs & 28 inches tall. He's starting to become quasi mobile (he rolls and wiggles himself all around the room). We sure enjoy this happy little squirt.

"Mom, take a picture of me going BBRRRRGGGHHH!"

Guitar Hero

Okay, so Rick only knows a few chords, but the kids had fun learning to strum with him.

Colorado's Jekyll and Hyde Weather

Yesterday we enjoyed a beautiful day in the park with a high of 71 degrees.

Today, it snowed all day.
